![What Is a Payment Intermediary?](https://vitaminaweb.digital/storage/blog/jntLnalAwRashEIJMyt3Orr8oBhLtSJa054Phejb.webp) A payment intermediary or facilitator is a financial company that already has agreements with all the credit card operators, making it easier to implement various payment methods in your online store without having to deal with bureaucratic processes involving banks and operators. The payment intermediary provides you with a predetermined fee schedule, with fixed percentages and rates. Its main earnings come from sales made in your online store. To track the amounts available for withdrawal, the payment intermediary provides a web interface (control panel) showing your sales account balance. Funds can be withdrawn a few days after payment has been processed. Payment intermediary fee schedules typically have different commission rates depending on sales volume, in addition to a fixed transaction fee. The main advantages of using a payment intermediary are:

- Fees are higher than those negotiated directly with a financial institution, but merchants can quickly offer various payment methods in their online store without having to sign up for each one separately;
- Most facilitators have a built-in security system and, as a market differentiator, assume the risk of a transaction;
